This was a fun challenge =D. Â I enjoyed making these, but they took a really long time. Â At least a couple of hours of just folding up dumplings. Â All by myself... Â If I make these again, I will definitely make these with someone. Â Somehow sitting in a chair folding for a very long time looses its excitement after awhile. Â Shocking. Â Anyways, once I finished and cooked these, they were okay. Â My mom loved them, but I found that the gnocchi was better. Â In case you were wondering, I made dumplings with a potato, cheese and onion filling. Â I figured that making them that way would guarantee that my whole family would like them. Â And, it did. Â My brother and dad liked them as well as my mom and I.
Without further adieu, here are the photos:
First off, the onions carmelize...
And the potatoes boil (then get mashed)
It all gets mixed together with the cheese...
And with a dash of movie magic, it gets enveloped by a dumpling wrapper, or two.
Into the pan. Â Cook! Cook! Cook!
All done, yum =D.
Thanks to Jen at use real butter for the challenge, and to Jill Elise for the wrapper recipe I used =D.
xoxo

your dumplings are super - especially since they are gluten free. Me? I'm too scared to make anything gluten free....
What a creative idea for a filling, I'm getting hungry reading your post! I made mine without help too, and it took a whole day on-and-off. Definitely worth it :)
I love how you illustrated your post with pics. What a great help! I am so impressed with your skill...this is my first visit and will be back soon. :)
You gluten-free DCs are so awesome. I am always amazed and impressed at how well you all adapt the recipes. A great job on the dumplings and next time, you should definitely draft some folks to help you fold! :)
I also loved this challenge, but did find the folding a little long, too :) What fun filling ideas - my husband would have liked those!
wow, you were brave making enough for the whole family - i stuck to a half batch which barely fed two but took a lot less time to make!
Oh, wow..those are like Pierogi dumplings but better! Wait, piergi's are dumplings, but yours are better, They look so delicious!! Great job, as usual!!
Hi! I also enjoyed this challenge a lot :) The dumplings were very time consuming indeed, but so worth it! :) Cheers!
You've done a great job with this challenge. It was fun, wasn't it? I hope you have a wonderful day.
I think I would love these a great filling for those who aren't used to chinese flavour like most of the people I know. Great looking photos. Cheers
I was never a dumpling fan, but major kudos to you for making these! Looks like they turned out great. I love the caramelized onions, too. Yeah, recipes like this are definitely more fun with a buddy to chat with while you're doing the time-intensive parts. The time flies with a friend.
Happy Friday, Lauren!

Ooohh... those are almost like perogies... they sound very yummy! I can almost taste them... num.. num. I also pleated by myself... it definitely takes a while. :) Great job on this challenge!
Wow... these look great. They remind me of pierogi. I love the caramelized onions in there.
Love how you make it with cheese. Sounds delightful =)
Yum...I love a good potato and onion pierogi, and I imagine these were very similar to that taste. It's no wonder so many different cultures have filled dumplings -- they're all good!
Beautiful dumplings! Potato and cheese filling must be so delicious and fulfilling. I am going to make that next round.
Regards,
Kris
Yum, what a unique (and tasty-sounding) idea for a filling! Great job!
I agree that the folding and pleating takes a long time, but after a while it was like a zen exercise. I was quite relaxed by the end!
I agree it is definitely more fun to make these with someone. Your filling sounds delicious!
These dumplings look so impressive and delicious :). I haven't had dumplings since going gf, oh how I miss 'em!
